Color can be manipulated in several ways. The diamond is shown under a colored light that offsets any yellowness in the stone or is shown against a black cloth backdrop instead of white. The setting of the stone can influence the perception of the color. A white gold or platinum setting contrasts with a yellowish diamond making the yellow cast more obvious, while a yellow gold setting doesn't make the yellow color as obvious. None of these methods are dishonest as long as the seller states the actual color grade.

However some dishonest sellers misstate the color grade intentionally or enhance it. Yellowish diamonds can be made to look whiter by touching the side of the diamond with indelible purple ink which neutralizes yellow. The diamond can also be painted to neutralize the yellow. The "paint" isn't at all obvious, can't be washed off and may take months of cleaning before it wears off.

All natural diamonds have some flaws. The diamond can be set to hide an obvious flaw on the edge of the diamond, the prong of the setting hiding the flaw. If you're buying a one or more carat diamond in your engagement ring it should be examined unset. Diamonds can have a crack or fissure filled thereby concealing it. Sometimes an inclusion can be lasered out. These techniques are not unethical as long as the seller discloses they've been used.

The weight of the diamond is measured in carats and increases exponentially. In other words a two carat diamond with similar clarity, color, and cut, will cost much more than twice the price of a one carat diamond. Some diamonds are cut to leave a bit of unpolished area on the girdle to make sure the diamonds reaches that important one carat weight. A .95 carat diamond price per carat cost is much less than a 1.00 carat diamond price per carat cost.

A three carat diamond engagement ring can vary tremendously in value depending on how many diamonds make up the three carats. Diamonds that are two carats don't look twice as big as a one carat stone. The increase in perceived size is only about 50%. A word of warning: Be leery when someone says a diamond spreads 1.5 carats. That doesn't mean it weighs 1.5 carats, just that it looks the same size as a 1.5 carat diamond when viewed from above. That can be achieved by cutting the diamond broader but shallower.

Cut is one of the more important factors. A badly cut diamond loses its brilliance and sparkle compared to a well cut diamond. A round brilliant cut diamond is about half the size of that same diamond in the rough, or uncut. Some diamond cutters will try to eke out two one carat stones out of a rough diamond crystal by sacrificing the quality of the cut.

GIA certified the GIA certificate can be viewed, it shows the inclusions plotted 2 feathers on the table on the edge and one close to it, there are several crystal inclusions on the table off center to the left. GIA is pretty stringent about there grading and eyeclean on such a faceted round should be eyeclean. However due to the cluster of crystals that area between 9 and 7 oclock could look darker however they are very small. You would definately want to speak to them about it before purchase, and they want you to be happy, otherwise you'll return it. The really nice thing is that the majority of the diamond is VVS2 clarity

What game console should I buy?

The thing is that I live abroad, so that you can only buy a console during the summer (or so pay in excess risk in the country you live in). It is an altercation between the PS3, 360 and PS2. The PS3 is my preffered choice, but I'm not digging the "grid"-looking. Other than that I love the general specifications and all. If a slim version (which is rumored) is released in the near future I buy in a heartbeat. There is also a rumor of the fall in prices .... 360 - Not bad, I like too, but there is a rumor Slim / native project version in the works (?) Also pay a wifi adapter, and Xbox Live is sorta a detour. Not to mention, the red ring of death ... develish (Living overseas, it would take longer than I get my table) PS2 - summer vacation instead of buying a new console generation, what's to pick up a ps2? I've begun to regret buying a GameCube about this, and it's cheaper (and elegant) than ever. What do you suggest over others and why? Thanks =)

I would go with the 360, is one of their games went much better than the Xbox exclusive and unique ps I feel like the Xbox is a better set in general with the line and the dash. Plus it's more fun Xbox online mode with Halo 3 and Gears of War 2. Playstation 2 games is not the road.

I bought a gold ring inexpensive at Wal-Mart. Inside is engraved right 10K after the letters RMI. What What is the position of RMI?

RMI probably refers to the name of the author / supplier of jewelry to Walmart. That or its possible that someone bought the ring, had it engraved with someones initials, and then for whatever reason returned.

In 1919, Marcel Tolkowsky calculated the internal ratios of a diamond which created the optimum balance between fire and brilliance. Cutting the gemstone to maximise fire and brilliance rather than carat weight meant that the table of the gemstone was increased relative to its depth compared with the antique cut. This new cut became known as the "brilliant cut". It is the uniform standard to which diamond cutters now shape the majority of jewelry grade diamonds. In fact over 80% of worldwide diamond sales today are of round, brilliant cut diamonds. So if you asked the majority of men, and even women, what shape a diamond is, they would probably say "round"!

But this is not necessarily the case. All solitaires are not round!

The actual shape of a diamond is determined by the interpretation of the internal structure of the diamond by the diamond cutter. The best cut is the one which produces the best shape and fire for that particular gemstone whilst keeping the carat weight as high as possible. This makes the skill of the diamond cutter supreme. Flawless diamonds can sometimes be shaped from flawed rough diamonds if the flaws lie favorably. And high grade diamonds can be ruined by unskilled cutting. For the rarer flawless diamonds, it has been known for an individual cutter to take weeks or even months of looking at the uncut stone to determine the best cut.

Apart from the round brilliant cut, there are the emerald cut, the square princess cut, the heart cut, the elongated marquise cut, the oval cut, the pear cut and the radiant cut. All of these shapes make wonderful solitaires, and none is more romantic than a heart shaped solitaire!
